The story of Elisha - The prophet who lifted dead from dead
Greetings in the name of lord
Elisha, a prophet in Israel and the successor of Elijah, was known for performing miracles through God's power. One day, a Shunammite woman, who had previously shown hospitality to Elisha by providing him a room in her home, faced a tragedy. Her son, whom Elisha had miraculously helped her conceive (as she had been barren), suddenly fell ill and died. The woman, in distress, laid her dead son on Elisha’s bed in her home and sought out the prophet, who was at Mount Carmel. She approached Elisha and pleaded for help, expressing her faith in his ability to intervene. Elisha immediately sent his servant, Gehazi, ahead with his staff to place it on the boy’s face, hoping to revive him, but this action had no effect. When Elisha arrived at the house, he found the boy dead on the bed. Elisha entered the room, shut the door, and prayed to God. Then, he performed an extraordinary act: he lay on top of the boy, mouth to mouth, eyes to eyes, hands to hands, and warmed the child’s body. After this, Elisha walked back and forth in the room, then repeated the act of lying on the boy. The child sneezed seven times and opened his eyes, indicating he was alive again.Elisha called for the boy’s mother and presented her son to her, alive. Overwhelmed with gratitude, she bowed before Elisha and took her son home. This miracle is one of several attributed to Elisha in the Bible, showcasing his role as a prophet empowered by God to perform acts that demonstrated divine compassion and power. The story emphasizes faith, divine intervention, and the prophet’s intercessory role.
God bless you my dear
